Ender's Game Comic from Marvel

There hasn't been any news on the movie recently. However, it has been announced that there will be a comic book based on Ender's Game, published by Marvel comics, that will be released this fall.

It seems like these comics will be a sign of what's to come in the movie. Orson Scott Card said at the San Diego Comic-Con that the look of the Battle Suits and character design will be the same in the movie and video game.

You can view the designs for Ender Wiggin and the Battle Suits here.

Orson Scott Card will not be writing the series. Instead, veteran comic and animation writer Christopher Yost will be writing it. Card has had high praise for Yost saying, "What he came back with was so powerful that it made me feel like I was reading the story for the first time. It came totally alive."

Yost has previously written X-Men: Emperor Vulcan, a story that featured alien invaders that drew comparisons to the Buggers.

Also, Yost has written several direct-to-video animated features for Marvel Studios. Many EG fans have wondered if animation would be the best way to make an Ender's Game movie. Perhaps, Marvel Studios might consider a big screen animated feature of Ender's Game? Just some food for thought....

I'm excited to see Marvel get on board. If anyone's familiar with the adaptation of Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers, I think they'll agree the animated series Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles was much better (and more faithful to the book) than the live-action cr*p produced by Hollywood (they ended up making 3!!! but I only wasted money on the first...).

It's also very encouraging to hear such positive comments by Card, and how he's open to new interpretations of his vision. Doing the story over a comic series (or television miniseries, as another blogger quineron posted) is also a good way to provide flexibility in telling a highly nuanced and multi-layered story.

I'm stoked.

What kind of kuso is this!? The movie will suck compared to the book, neh? Will probably be a disgrace to the book and ruin the vision of ... just about any one with half a brain stem. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

Calm it, Brian. We be in good hands, or you thinkin' Card can't deliver? Maybe you think you could do better at the helm, fart-eater? You are just paranoid, but it's ok--a movie like this DOES need to be done right. We can trust Card to do it, though, neh?

regardless of how they changed the story a little, the art work is fabulous.

I found this, and it seems disappointing. im curious to see how it would work out. Doesnt sound like card to make it after, and not follow the story we love so much. But, it could still be good.

i've seen the 'Dune' on film, I think they tried it twice...

i'd say that ender is even harder to do justice in a movie format...

it might be easier as a comic book, cuz its still a book...

the only way I'd see it possible, to do lots of narration- to tell us what are ender's thoughts. otherwise we have to guess his thoughts, which takes away 90% of the substance of the story.
